An extraordinary wedding planning and wedding thanks to Vivi and Tamás. Read about their wedding experience below.
We only had 3-4 weeks to prepare for their wedding, but thanks to their precise ideas, we had enough time to do everything.
Their wedding concept surprised us, though: they envisioned a whirlwind wedding where they would travel to their favorite Budapest venues, enjoy each other’s company and activities. The civil ceremony was a fixed stopover, which took place in a truly special setting during the second half of the day: on the rooftop of the Matild Hotel, with a panoramic view of the Danube.
The October weather was also in the couple’s favor, with beautiful sunny weather perfect for a mini wedding.
In a few thoughts, can you tell us why you voted for a two-person elopement wedding?

How time-consuming did you think planning your wedding was? By comparison, how do you see it now, after your wedding?
Beforehand: We had started planning the wedding almost 1 month before the wedding and I thought it would be done in 3-4 weeks.
After the wedding: It took 3-4 weeks with a wedding planner. Awesome detailed and versatile job with lots of little tasks. Some useful examples: rings take 3 weeks to make, sewing the wedding dress can take 4-5 weeks. In our case it was 3 weeks. Venue selection, arrangements, permissions, parking, photographer, videographer, caterer, hairdresser, make-up artist, and the ceremony and all the elements surrounding it, like music, ceremony… lots of little things that are very important. I’m sure there are a lot of things I can’t think of right now. A lot of challenges. I would also recommend to everyone to hire a wedding planner for this type of wedding. It makes things incredibly easy, and on the big day the couple no longer have to worry about any tasks but each other. The wedding coordinator arrives early to each venue on the day. Everything is prepared and we just have to enjoy the moment. Moreover, it also makes the preparations easier, finding us the perfect wedding service providers, salons, decorators, photographers, etc.
Which one of the tasks you had to do was the most stressful to you? And why?
Finding the perfect outfits was the most stressful and getting them ready on time. I found my dream dress in the second salon and it was made super fast in 3 weeks, but I was really excited to get it the way I imagined it. I only had “that one shot” due to the limited time. But the dress exceeded all my expectations.
How overwhelmed did you feel by the extra wedding tasks?
My husband and I spent a week planning our wedding and we realized pretty quickly that it would be very difficult or impossible to do without help because of the time constraints. But not in the way we imagined with the two of us planning it.
How long before the wedding would you recommend a couple to start planning their wedding?
Conveniently, if it’s an elopement wedding and only 2 people or a very small family circle are involved, 3-6 months before. But if you want to hold it in peak season, even earlier, due to venue bookings
Why do you think it is useful to work with a wedding planner? What can they actually help you with?
A wedding planner can help with everything and take all the pressure off the couple so that they can focus on each other on the Big Day. It makes it easier to coordinate, organize and arrange the wedding, etc. It makes the ideas more tangible and helps the couple to match their needs. It will list all the services, salons, venues and wedding concepts that are relevant to the couple, which they can choose from; keeps in touch with everyone, and always up to date. Besides, it’s one of the biggest supports and assets.
Tell us your best and worst memories of your wedding and wedding planning.
Best memory: I can’t really pick a particular moment, the whole day was a miracle. If I really wanted to, the ring pulling would be my best memory.
Worst memory: When it turned out for 2-3 days that the wedding rings would not be ready in time. Then the perfect jeweler was found.
What particular locations did you visit during your wedding photography? Why did you choose them?
Our first location was the waterfall on Gellért Hill. We started the day with a nice coffee at this spot 🙂 The second location was the Hungarian National Gallery. The third location was the Garden of Philosophers, where we had a picnic. The fourth location was the Basilica round lookout. The fifth venue was the wedding itself, the rooftop terrace of the Duchess Bar at the top of the Matilda Palace, where the wedding celebrant and the two witnesses were waiting for us. The sixth venue was the Fisherman’s Bastion, one of our favorite venues. After that, we slept in a hotel to end the Big Day. Each of these venues is important to us for some reason and we are attached to them.
How was the ceremony and reception at the Matild Hotel rooftop?
The ceremony was very beautiful and sophisticated in every way. It exceeded all our expectations. We received special attention from the Matild Palace staff right from the planning stage. They took great care to ensure that all our requests were met. The catering that the chef created for our wedding was truly outstanding, divine. 🙂
How would you describe your wedding experience?
A bit of a cliché to say that but really the most beautiful day! It was all about us. A really wonderful memory.
We couldn’t have done it without you! We are so grateful <3.
